<B>Declaration Signer James Wilson Document Signed.</B></I> One page, 8.25" x 4.75", Philadelphia, June 16, 1794, to Samuel Meredith, Treasurer of the United States, requesting that his $875 salary be paid to William Wilson who has also signed this document. James Wilson signed the Declaration of Independence as a representative of Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Constitutional Convention 1775-1777, 1783, and 1785-1786, a major force in the drafting of the Constitution, and one of the first six justices appointed to the Supreme Court by George Washington. Due to some dubious land speculation that caused him to be imprisoned twice, Wilson died penniless. Fine condition; folds. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
