One page with integral address leaf, 7.25" x 9", York, Pennsylvania, February 24, 1767, to Surveyor General John Luken of Philadelphia. Regarding some land in Pennsborough Township, in part, "<I>...I am desirous to have it Surveyed in order to Patent it and should be much obliged...</B></I>" Smith signed the Declaration of Independence as a representative from Pennsylvania and was also a member of the Continental Congress 1776-1778. An attorney, he set up his first practice in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, home of Henry Luhrs and the Lincoln Library. Very good condition, damp staining at lower left not affecting signature.
