<B>Decatur, IL</B></I> - $20 1882 Value Back Fr. 580a <B>The Millikin NB</B></I> Ch. # (M)5089<BR> This signature combination is listed in Friedberg with the simple designation "Rare," with no prices assigned in any grade. We know of just two examples, both from this bank, with this perhaps the nicer of the pair. It's an attractive and problem free piece with excellent print quality, good margins for the issue, and loads of eye appeal. This note is a perfect example of the many unheralded rarities in the Flynn holdings, a situation which was mirrored perfectly by large size type notes in the early 1990's, when rare Friedberg numbers languished at type note prices due to lack of interest on the part of collectors. With new collectors now avidly seeking the better type note numbers, it appears to be just a question of time until the truly rare National numbers fetch prices commensurate with their rarity.
