(TCF, 1977) This miniature gun tower was screen-used during the attack on the Death Star and other Death Star surface shots of the film. These gun towers (in various sizes) were placed on the surface of the miniature Death Star surface set and filmed by ILM for the effects shots. This gun tower is the medium scale and measures about 8 ½ in. tall. The gun turret is not permanently attached to the top of the tower, allowing for the stop-motion animation sequence, and is made of the same biscuit foam as the Death Star surface sections. During filming, the turrets were glued down to the towers in various angles, this turret sits nicely atop the tower and is in no need to be re-glued. This particular tower (bottom section under the turret) is extremely rare as it is the original tower carved of wood that was used to create all of the other towers used during production. This is a very rare ILM miniature as very few gun towers have found their way into collectors’ hands, making this a must have piece for collectors of the original Star Wars films.
