Dean, Adams & Dean double-action percussion revolver. Approx. .44 caliber or 11mm, serial number “5246”, cased with accessories. The pistol measures 13” overall with 6-3/4” octagon barrel. The top of the frame and barrel inscribed “Dean, Adams & Dean Makers to Prince Albert, 50 King William St. London Bridge”. The pistol remains in very good to near fine condition showing approx. 80-90% original blue on barrel and frame, drifting at the edges near the muzzle, but generally crisp and bright. The cylinder shows a later dipped blue over case-hardened colors, which was applied probably during the period of use when case hardening started to drift. Case hardening can be seen under this blue which is 75-85% intact. The grips are sharp and crisp. There is some drifting of the blue from the triggerguard and buttcap. The action is good, the interior is near excellent. The pistol has seen little use. The partition style green-felt-lined case is in good condition showing some fraying and fading and outline where there was once a label in the lid, now missing. The case contains a correct Adams-marked mold, showing “1851” date, also stamped “56” in large numerals. The case contains a brass cleaning rod stamed “J & EB”, an oiler, large cap tin, patch cutter, a plunger type cylinder-shaped flask, and a bag flask. The exterior of the case is light colored oak with brass mounts, and keyplate is missing. Exterior of the case shows some discoloration, minor scratches, and small losses, but is generally good to very good overall. A crisp example of a high quality English revolver. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
