This is a rather incredible discovery, a full case of Deamer full face embossed Gravitating Stopper (patent date 1864 on bottom) soda bottles in shades of aqua, including scarce deep blue aqua. Many are heavily whittled, some true individual prizes. The Deamer bottles were made sometime in the 1870s. This original case is housed in one of Powell (Nevada City Soda Works) wood crate, and was found in the basement of the Nevada City Soda works.
It was common from the gold rush period all the way through WW1 to reuse soda bottles from other bottlers. Embossed sodas from "competitors" were simply reused with a paper label placed over the embossing. This is a remarkable find, as many of the choice Deamer bottles have sold well over $100 each. Most are excellent, though some may have base chips.
Most or all of the 24 bottles here are the full face, very attractive variant. Grass Valley California
