Lot of 2: 1) Dayton Gold & Silver Mining Company, incorporated in 1872. Cert. #6085, issued to W.G. Crandall, Jr. for 50 shares. Signed by pres. H.K.R. Harmon and sec. W.E. Jean. Small vignette at bottom of dog and safe. Black border and print. Datelined San Francisco. Printer: A.J. Leary, S.F. 4 ½ x 9 ¼.” U/C. Two Assessment Paid stamps on reverse. Very fine. The company mined tailings on the Carson River. In 1874 they processed 1200 tons that yielded $20,599.83 [Raymond, 1875]. 2) Dayton Gravel Mining Company, incorporated in 1878. Cert. #56, issued to W.W. Scogin for 1000 shares. Signed by J.J. Cooper, president, and by W.W. Scogin, secretary. Vignette of eagle holding “E Pluribus Unum” banner in its beak.
