<Our item number 79926>Davis, Bette Nightgown From Bride Came C.O.D. A gorgeous champagne satin, sleeveless, floor-length nightgown with a lace trim and a satin v-neck bodice, designed by Orry-Kelly for Bette Davis in her role as "Joan Winfield" opposite James Cagney. In the 1941 Warner Bros. film, Davis plays an oil heiress who plans to elope with bandleader Allen (Tommy Keenan), but penniless pilot Steve (Cagney) makes a deal with her father to "kidnap" her to avoid the marriage. The "runaway heiress" was a popular theme in the 1930s and 40s. One reviewer called the film "exhaustingly entertaining." The gown is a beautiful piece of film history.
Estimated Value $800-1,000.

Our item number 79926
<IMAGES><P ALIGN=CENTER">
</IMAGES> "
