Civil War verteran from Iowa (1844–1936). Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Nocton at the age of 90, dressed in full uniform atop a white horse in a parade, signed in fountain pen, “Colonel David W. Nocton”; and an ALS, signed “Col. David W. Nocton,” one lightly-lined page, both sides, March 15, 1934. In part: “I am thanking you for the interest that you take for wanting my picture autographed. I would not care for a picture because I have it from Des Moines, Iowa when the encampment was over there.” In very good condition, with some mild rippling to photo’s finish, as well as two vertical black lines (inherent to the negative) and a uniform shade of mild toning to letter.
