David Remez. Signer of Israel's Declara
David Remez. Signer of Israel's Declaration of Independence. A.N.S. twice, Aug. 1917, to a foreman about allocation of special flour discount vouchers to laborers. "Vouchers must be given today, as part of support, as agreed." Written on a piece of yellow lined paper, 3 x 6, in Hebrew, signed once under instructions for regular laborers, and again beneath that for temporary laborer. The Palestine economy in 1917 had almost vanished because of the war, most of the men having been deported by the Ottoman Turks or forced to enlist in the Turkish Army. Remez subsequently became Minister of Transportation, and later Minister of Education in Ben-Gurion's governments. Exceptionally rare.
