American admiral (1801–1870) who was a flag officer of the Navy during the Civil War. ALS signed “D. G. Farragut, Admiral,” one page, 5.25 x 8, 1868. Letter to a gentleman. In part: “On my return to the city last evening I found your kind invitation to meet Genl Grant on the 8th inst at the Union League Club. I accept this invitation.” Paper loss to upper right (affecting the date), complete tape-repaired separations to two mailing folds, and light overall toning, otherwise very good condition.
