Inscribed, ''To the brave men who served under my command in days gone by and who are now my comrades in the G. A. R. & belong to Post 353 - Greenport Long Island - with kind regards of their old commander.'' General Daniel Adams Butterfield commanded a brigade at Manassas, led a corps in the desperate assault on Marye’s Heights during the Battle of Fredericksburg, and served as George Meade’s Chief of Staff at Gettysburg during the Civil War. Very good condition.
