During his time there, in 1910, the Mexican Revolution erupted, and he became involved in student strikes. From then on, politics and art were inseparable to him. He became known for his politically charged paintings and murals, as much as his arrests for supporting unions. His work today can be found in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian, Washington, D.C., and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in Mexico City.
