<B> Darwin The Structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs.</B></I> An analysis, communicated by Colonel Jackson, published in the <I>Journal of the Royal Geographical Society of London</B></I> (London: John Murray, 1842), twelfth volume, pages 115-120. The three parts of Darwin's <I>Geology of the Voyage of the Beagle</B></I> were published separately over a period of five years but intended as parts of one work. The first book, published in 1842, is a landmark volume about coral reefs and this present item is a review of that first edition as published in the Royal Geographical Society's <I>Journal</B></I>. The review is very positive and concludes, in part, "…we can safely say that we have rarely met with a work every way so satisfactory… we wait with great impatience the works promised by the same talented naturalist on Volcanic Islands and on South America."
