''Dark Town Battery'' mechanical bank, circa 1888 when it was patented. Clever bank works by placing a coin in the pitcher's hand and then simultaneously moving his head and the batter's head so that the coin is ''pitched'', the batter misses it, and then it's deposited into the bank by the catcher. Designed by James H. Bowen and manufactured by J. & E. Stevens & Co., Cromwell, CT. ''Darktown Battery'' appears on the base. Measures 9.75'' long, 7'' tall and 2.75'' wide. Some paint loss, overall in very good, working condition.
