Daring Mystery Comics #1 (Timely, 1940) CGC Apparent VF- 7.5 Moderate (P) Cream to off-white pages. There are plenty of reasons why this comic is ranked among the 50 most valuable Golden Age books by Overstreet. Start with the fact that it's one of the earliest Timely issues, hitting newsstands just three months after Marvel Comics #1. Then note that it's a Gerber "7," meaning less than 50 copies are estimated to exist. Then add an exciting bondage cover by Alex Schomburg. The scene features the Fiery Mask, who makes his first appearance in this book in a story drawn by none other than Joe Simon. Monako, John Steele, and Doc Doyle also make their debuts. With "top of Guide" for this issue currently at $29,000, our copy's purple label could be your ticket to a bargain. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, reinforced." Overstreet 2004 GD 2.0 value = $1,812; VG 4.0 value = $3,624; FN 6.0 value = $5,436; VF 8.0 value = $13,590.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
