Danish Training Ship Georg Stage, Print
Framed maritime print after an original painting by O.W. Dahlstrom in the B&W Museum, Copenhagen, depicting the Danish training ship Georg Stage. Built by Burmeister & Wain in 1882 as a three-masted bark with a 125 HP auxiliary steam engine, the vessel was named after the owner's late son. After more than 50 years in service, the ship was saved from dismantling and acquired by author Alan Villiers, who renamed it Joseph Conrad. The ship famously circumnavigated the globe and served as a U.S. Navy training vessel during World War II. It now resides at Mystic Seaport, Connecticut. The reverse includes an informative label detailing its historic significance.
