Controversial and colorful American politician and military officer (1819-1914) who lost his leg at the Battle of Gettysburg. Two partly-printed DSs, both filled out by Daniel Sickles and signed at the conclusion, “D. Sickles.” Both documents are one-page New York pay orders measuring 7.75 x 3.25, dated May 9 and 18, 1888, promising to pay John J. Bradley and “myself” $7500 and $3000, respectively, after a 90-day period. Sickles endorses the reverse of the pay order issued to himself. In overall fine condition.
