Lot of two certificates of different series, both datelined Clinton, Iowa. Incorporated in Iowa in 1879. 1) Cert. #602 issued to Charles H. Tall, Jr. in 1880 for 5 shares. Signed by A.L. Ankeny as president and by Chas. F. Bell, secretary. No vignette, black border on crème paper with blue underprint (“non-assessable”) and embossed seal. U/C. No printer noted. 4 ¾ x 9 ¼.” 2) Cert. #288 issued to Martha A. Lanihart for 37 shares on July 15, 1890. “Second Series” printed in red at top of certificate. Signed by G.M. Curtis, president and C.E. Webb, secretary. Same style certificate as above but with pale green underprint. Both certificates say “Mines located in Lawrence County, Dakota” at bottom. This is the same county where the city of Deadwood and the Homestake Mine are located. The Homestake is the largest producing mine in that area.
