an unidentified sixth plate portrait of a young antebellum Naval officer, wearing the pre-1852 undress frock coat with lieutenant straps. The oval brass mat bears the blind stamp of Williamson/Brooklyn. Regarded as an accomplished American daguerreian and "miniature painter," Charles H. Williamson (1826-1874) relocated to Brooklyn from Springfield, Massachusetts in 1851. 

Condition: Plate with a slight tarnish ring at bottom of oval opening, else VG. with good clarity. Housed in complete composition case.
