Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a small child in a white dress, sitting in a wooden early stenciled back youth chair. The image is sharp and the child's cheeks are tinted red. Other than slight separation at spine, the leather half case is in excellent condition. The ornate design is entitled ''Bird and Grapevine Variant'' and is listed as plate #90 in Rinhart's book, ''American Miniature Case Art.'' Clean oval brass mat has the name ''Manchester'' engraved in the corner. Great condition.
