He holds his hand to display the pinky ring. His vest is of cloth similar to that of the starry knight (Lot 5) but much more muted. The cloth of her dress and blouse are more vibrant. She shows two rings, and has a large cameo brooch and a bracelet with a covered case-- perhaps it holds a miniature daguerreotype. They are identified as "Benjamin Payn and wife Elizabeth Felthausen when Married 1845." [This date can't be correct; the daguerreotype is later.] The fine half plate is sealed in early paper seals, in full case. Some faint hazy patches on the underside of the glass. The plate is without blemish. Triangular veil of lighter tarnish at lower right [beneath her handkerchief.] Full case with floral design, new spine.
