DWM WWI German 1916 Artillery Luger Pistol
This is a very fine example of a mid-WWI (early 1916) German artillery luger as manufactured by the DWM factory, that is fitted with the scarce fine tune front and rear sight assemblies. It has the standard WWI Imperial Eagle and DWM acceptance proof marks on the right side of the barrel extension, underside of the barrel and the toggle assembly. The top of the chamber is dated 1916 as noted and it has the correct DWM marked toggle. The fine tune sights consist of the standard sights that were factory fitted with a small adjustment screw that is located on the center rear section of the rear sight and on the right hand side of the front sight base. Obviously these are intended to provide a fine adjustment feature when the pistol was original sighted in. This feature was dropped later on in 1917 as a war expedient measure. Currently it is fitted with a correct nickel plated WWI magazine with a wooden base that has been re-stamped with serial number 1147. It has the standard walnut checkered grip panels, with a rust blued finish overall with the straw color on the trigger, take down lever, safety, and magazine release.
BBL: 8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 2462a
Condition: Very fine overall with 90% plus of the original blue finish showing wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots overall, with a small patch of pin-prick pitting/blue loss on the left side of the front muzzle area, with some light thinning of the blue in the center and underside section of the barrel. The various small parts retain 70% of their original straw colors. The walnut grips are in very fine condition with nice checkering overall with even honest light wear across the tops of the checkering with a small chip in the upper rear corner of the grip on the left side. The pistol has matching numbers on all the parts except the magazine. A solid example of a DWM 1916 dated Artillery Luger pistol.
