Manufacturer: DWM Model: 1908 Military
This is a very fine example of a DWM Model 1908 Military Luger pistol as produced by the DWM factory in 1913. These 1908 model Lugers are easily to identify as they all lack the stock lug on the lower rear edge of the frame. This example is so late in the production cycle that is had the 1914 model hold-open device installed when it was originally produced. As noted this Luger is dated "1913" over the chamber area and it has the standard DWM logo on the front toggle assembly, with the left side of the barrel extension stamped "GERMANY", indicating it was intended for export after WWI. The right side of the barrel extension has the standard Crown over script proofs with the underside of the barrel is marked with the full serial number (1687b) as well as "Bo.24", indicating it was fitted with a Bohler steel barrel. The last two digits of the serial number are stamped on the various small parts. This Luger has a correct WWI nickel plated magazine with the wooden base that is marked on the base "674e". This pistol has a rust blued metal finish with the straw colors on the appropriate small parts and it is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 1687b
Condition:
Very fine with 90% of the original blued finish overall showing original holster wear and fading. The various small parts retain 50% of their straw colors, mixed with some very light oxidation. The checkered walnut grips rate very good with some minor flattening across the tops of the checkering and a sliver of wood missing under safety lever. Mechanically excellent. The pistol has matching numbers except the magazine as noted above.
