This is a nice example of a scarce 1913 dated DWM luger pistol. This is generally accepted as the last year that DWM manufactured the 1908 pattern luger pistol. These can be distinguished by the lack of the hold-open device and stock lug. This example has been modified to add the hold open device, which was later performed on all 1908 model lugers, after WWI. The top of the chamber is dated 1913 and the front toggle is marked DWM. It has three crown over Gothic letter proofs and Imperial acceptance markings on the right side barrel extension and the Imperial eagle is also marked on top of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. Visible numbers match. It has the standard rust blue finish with straw colors on the small parts, nickel magazine with wooden base numbered "5125" and is fitted with checkered walnut grips, which are stamped "46" on the inside of each panel.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 2246a
Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 95% plus original blue finish with some minor muzzle and high edge wear. The small parts retain 70% original straw colors with a smooth silver gray on the balance. The grips are very fine with some minor bruising on the lower right side, minor wear on the right panel and overall crisp checkering. With the exception of the Imperial eagle on the top of the barrel (fading), the markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. A very nice 1913 dated 1908 DWM military Luger.
