DWM Manufactured Borchardt Semi-Automatic Pistol with Research/Pistol Article information

This is a very nice example of a professionally restored, early DWM manufactured "System Borchardt" semi-automatic pistol. This model of pistol was the true forerunner of the world famous Luger pistol in that the toggling mechanism was eventually adopted and refined by George Luger and was used through out the production of those pistols. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "SYSTEM BORCHARDT. PATENT./DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN,/BERLIN" and the top of the toggle is marked "D.R.P./No. 75837". The left side of the barrel extension, the breech and toggle mechanism have the early commercial proofs of a "Crown/B and U" and the left rear section of the barrel is also marked with the "Crown/B, U, and G" proofs over "172,23". It has a correct style of checkered walnut grips along with the original nickel plated, wood bottom magazine. This early pistol is accompanied by a large binder that is full of various research information and gun collector articles and historical information on the System Borchardt pistol and its inventor, Hugo Borchardt. This lot also includes a reproduction copy of an original French language version, Borchardt pistol manual. A very nice, attractive example of a scarce early DWM manufactured pistol.

Very fine with 98% of the professionally restored blue remaining. The markings are clear and distinct with the correct polishing on the flats and radiuses of the pistol. The walnut grips are very good as revarnished with sharp checkering. A very nice example of a scarce early pistol that would be an excellent addition to any pistol collection.
