DWM 1929 Oberndorf Mauser Commercial Luger Pistol

This is a rare example of a 1930's era commercial DWM Oberndorf Luger pistol. These commercial type Lugers were made with left over WWI/DWM parts made under control of the renamed "Mauser" factory. They are identified by the large "Crown/U" Oberndorf/Mauser proofmark. They were generally intended for sale inside German, with total production quantity estimated to be less than a few hundred total with no more than a handful actually in collections today. The chamber area is blank and it has the standard "DWM" markings on front toggle. Only the front of the frame carries the full serial number (9519o) with the right side of the barrel extension, the left side of the breechblock and the underside of the barrel having the early "Crown/U" Oberndorf Commercial proof. The internal number on the receiver is number 96 and the toggle train is unserialized. It is numbered in the commercial fashion, (as they were still made under the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles) with the last two digits of the serial number (19) stamped on the takedown lever, side plate, trigger and recoil lug under the barrel extension. It is fitted with the standard checkered walnut grips and it has an early unmarked nickel plated commercial magazine with the aluminum base.

Very fine as assembled with 95% plus of the blued finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear only with a small spot of pitting present on left side of muzzle below front sight. The various small parts retain 90% of their straw colors overall. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice checkering overall with minimal handling marks. A very nice all original early, early late 1920s Oberndorf Commercial Luger.
