This is a nice example of a scarce "Totenkopf" Death's Head Luger pistol. Though later associated with Panzer units and the SS, the symbol was first used by the "Stormtrooper" trench raiding teams and flame thrower squads of the WWI. Fixed sights, with the "Lazy S" Death's Head on the chamber above "1916", and the DWM monogram on the toggle. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with three "Crown over Script" proofs, one Imperial Eagle proof, and an "eagle/ HZajl16" Nazi rework mark, with an "eagle/ swastika" on the barrel and Imperial eagles on the barrel and breechblock. Checkered grips and a nickel magazine with wood base.
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm P
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 5372n
Condition: Partially refinished, showing 80% of the blue, with wear along the high edges, areas of brown and gray patina, scattered handling marks and some areas of pitting, heavier on the underside of the extension. The side plate is a refinished replacement, numbered to match the arm, and the magazine base is cracked and numbered differently. Grips are good with a dark spot on the right panel and mild pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
