DWM 1914 Artillery Luger Rig with Shoulder Stock
This is a fine restored example of a DWM 1914 Artillery Luger that was manufactured in 1916. The pistol has the distinctive 8-inch barrel with tangent rear sight graduated to 800 meters. Both the front sight and rear sight have "fine adjustment" screws. The pistol has a rust blue finish with 'straw' and niter blue colored small components. The grips are finely checkered walnut. The pistol is complete with a flat board, walnut, stock; with the pistol serial number on the attaching hardware, black, cowhide, holster, shoulder strap, screwdriver/loading tool, steel cleaning rod with wooden barrel handle and matching magazine. The pistol has the "DWM" monogram on the toggle link and is dated "1916" on the chamber. The left side of the extractor is marked "GALADEN" and the upper safety lever position is marked "GESICHERT". The right side of the receiver is stamped with three "Crown/Letter" Army inspection marks followed by the German Army Test Proof. Army test proofs are also stamped on the right side of the barrel and breechblock. The full serial number, "9873/a" is stamped on the front of the frame, the underside of the barrel, the top of the stock attachment lug and on the wooden magazine bottom. The partial serial number, "9873" is stamped on the left side of the frame. The last two digits of the serial number, "73" are stamped on: all of the rear sight components, the breechblock, extractor, both toggle links, the sear bar assembly, ejector, lock bolt, trigger, side plate, safety latch, safety lever and on the inside of both walnut grips. All of the visible serial numbers match. The side of the board stock is stamped with an Army Crown/Letter inspection mark. The back of the holster is stamped "M-G-M" is bold letters. The screw-driver/tool has a phosphate finish and is stamped with a faint post-WWI Wermacht acceptance mark.

Fine. The pistol has been professionally restored and has nearly all of the rust blue on the barrel, receiver, toggle and frame while the smaller components have most of the straw or niter blue finish. Mechanically excellent. All of the inspection marks, proofmarks and serial numbers are crisp. The board stock is in very good condition with moderate handling wear. The holster is in fine condition with much of the original finish, tight stitching and clear marking; wear is limited to scattered light age cracks on the holster body and flap.
