This is a very fine example of an original 1913 dated DWM L luger pistol. This is generally accepted as the last year that DWM manufactured the 1908 pattern luger pistol. These can be distinguished by the lack of the hold-open device and stock lug. This example has been the hold open device which was added on some of the late 1913 production lugers and which was later performed on all earlier 1908 model production lugers, after WWI. The top of the chamber is dated 1913 and the front toggle is marked DWM. It has standard factory markings with Imperial acceptance markings on the barrel extension and barrel, with the correct GESICHERT and GELADEN marked safety area and extractor. The underside of the barrel is marked with the matching serial number and the bore diameter only. Rust blued finish with straw colors on the small parts with checkered walnut grips. Complete with a WWI, nickel plated magazine with a wooden base ("8023+").
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 8047
Condition: Very fine with 90% of the slightly faded original blued finish with high edge wear, with some minor thinning starting on the grips straps. The various small parts retain 30% of their original straw colors. The grips are in very good condition overall with the right side being in fine condition with nice checkering while the left side shows some heavier pressure dents on the back edge, probably from a holster stud. The pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine.
