DWM 1906 American Eagle Luger Pistol
This is an excellent example of a late production DWM 1906 American Eagle Luger. This type of Luger was made expressly for export to the United States to increase overseas sales by the DWM factory. These early commercial Lugers feature excellent fit and finish with beautiful hand polished, rust blued finish on the metal parts with straw color on the smaller components and a beautiful dark European hand checkered walnut stock. These were probably some of the best Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced for commercial sales, and this pistol certainly exemplifies that. The model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel with the top of the chamber area marked with the large American Eagle crest and the DWM logo on the front toggle. It has the Crown "N" proof on the underside of the barrel along with the serial number. The left side of the barrel extension is also marked with the single Crown "N" proof. The front end of the frame is marked with the full serial number over "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. The left side of the breechblock and front toggle are stamped with the last two digits of the serial number, as well as the takedown lever, side plate, trigger and grip safety with the back side of each grip panel stamped with only a "1". The trigger, takedown lever, magazine release button and ejector are all straw colored. The pistol, as noted, is fitted with a beautiful set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with a unmarked wooden base.
