DWM 1905 DUTCH TRIALS LUGER SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.

Cal. 7.65mm (30 Luger). S# 22329. Bbl. 4" w/ fin shaped front sight & full S#. Properly unmarked center toggle link & blank area over chamber. Dished toggles w/ toggle latch. Crown D proof on left side of receiver. Grip safety; thumb safety unmarked w/ safe in upper position & lower position polished bright. Early breech block & frame having wide trigger guard & narrow trigger. All numbered parts are matching except for left grip (72). This pistol is featured on pp. 96, 225, 227 and 462 of The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols by Joachim Gortz & Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Book states mfg. from shortened frame & is NOT a 1903 Danzig test Luger. Printed works referring to 1903 Danzig indicate S#22300-22400; 1905 Dutch models S# 22200-22400 (obvious overlap). Later Dutch models will be found w/ B suffix & "RUST" safety mark. Strawed sm. parts. Discreetly Simpson import marked w/in magwell dimple area; barely visible. MAGS: near excellent 8 rd. w/ properly unmarked wood base. CONDITION: good overall appearance as arsenal refinished having scattered pitting that is deep on right frame rail, trigger guard, right toggle knob & bottom of front strap. About moderate pitting on remainder of grip straps w/ very light pitting on grip safety & random areas of receiver. Light pitting on strawed parts along w/ good retained finish except for safety lever w/ gray patina appearance. Polished bright safety area w/ light pitting. Good bore w/ wear & light pitting. Very good dark grips w/ lightly hand worn checkering & scattered minor marks. PROVENANCE: formerly from collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. (22-352/NW). CURIO. $8,000-11,000.
