DWM 1902 AMERICAN EAGLE FAT BARREL SEMI-AUTO
PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 22889. Bbl. 4" w/ fin shaped sight; often called "Fat Barrel" due to non sleek look of 9mm bbl. rather than thin profile of previous 30 Luger bbls. Some references indicate S# range of 22300-22400 & 22900-23500 (same as 1902 Commercial). Early features of dished toggle knobs, flat topped breech block (plus extractor), polished bright safety position, grip safety, narrow trigger, wide trigger guard, no stock lug and flat (not coil) mainspring. Matching numbers on breech block, both toggles (889 at rear), trigger, grip safety, takedown lever, side plate, bbl. (full number), receiver (correctly w/out proofs) and both checkered walnut grips (each additionally w/ two 4's). MAGS: 1 good correct tin plated 8 rd. w/ wood base (very good) marked "Cal. 9m/m" to help prevent using 30 Luger ammo instead of new developed more potent military cartridge. CONDITION: good to very good overall appearance w/ noticeable wear mixed w/ cleaned light pitting in grip area. Bbl. finish best appearing w/ minimal thinning at muzzle. Scattered cleaned peppery oxidation on portions of frame plus sides of receiver w/ somewhat dull finish.
