""William Dwight"" adding rank on Headquarters, Department of the Gulf letterhead, 2pp. 8vo., Alexandria, Apr. 26, 1864, in part: ""àThe major general commanding [Nathaniel Banks] wishes to know if you can communicate with Admiral Porter. If so he desires to know if the admiral wants a land force to assist him in bringing down the Eastport. The general thinks it would be advisable to send a boat to the admiralà"". Very good.
