Dwayne Harty was born and
raised in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.
His interest in wildlife art began in
1960 when, at the age of three, he
began to draw. His first formal wildlife
art training was under artist Clarence
Tillenius at the Okanagan Game Farm
in Penticton, British Columbia. In
1978 he moved to Santa Fe where he
painted with Robert Loughheed, Tom
Lovell and Wilson Hurley. He is the cofounder
of Wildlife Art International's
"Animal Art In the Park" – Canada's
premier wildlife art exhibition held
annually in Algonquin Park. Dwayne
is a member of the Society of Animal
Artists, from whom he received the
Award of Excellence at the 1993
annual exhibition and the Leonard J.
Meiselman Award in 1995.
