Circa 1860. Elegant dollhouse has an impressive fatade of two flanking towers and a recessed center with a grand entrance. Intricately carved windows and mullions are further enhanced by the cut out fretwork that embodies the front entrance and hangs below the railing on the balcony. Twenty-eight large windows are found on the front and both sides of the house. A carved weather vane is perched on the recessed center. The house is painted gray with white trim and the front entrance has two carved columns with steps ascending a railed porch. The house is open from the back to expose six large furnished rooms. There are four long rooms consisting of a parlor, dining room, child's nursery, and bedroom. The two center rooms (one on top of each other). The one on the first level is a kitchen. It has a build in cupboard, marble cooking area with fountain. There are numerous cooking implements and a black bisque Nanny with a baby. Above the kitchen is an outdoors garden and potting shed with all the garden tools etc. Bedroom is furnished mostly in black French furniture consisting of a day bed, armoire, table & chairs, a soft metal filigree sewing stand, two ivory pieces (an exceptional shaving mirror, cabinet), a beaded chandelier, plus other accessories. Dining room has a beaded chandelier, a built in mirrored fireplace and a fine Biedemeier china cabinet plus other pieces. Child's nursery is mostly of later German furnishings painted blue with flower decoration. There are several small all bisque dolls in the nursery. There is a beaded chandelier and other small accessories. Parlor has a built in fireplace with a fine set of lithograph furniture consisting of a sofa, chairs, tables, hutch and a most unusual lithographed parlor stove. A fine set of Bristol dishes, wine decanter, goblets, beaded chandelier, vases are also included. Interior of this house has wallpapers of repeating patterns of stone, columns, cornices and marble. Draperies of silk and lace hang at all the windows. <p>1. Bertoia Auctions has endeavored to accurately describe all items being sold, but all property herein offered for sale is strictly “as is” and it is the bidder’s responsibility to determine the exact condition of each item. No statement in this catalog, bill of sale or invoice shall be deemed to be a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability with respect to age, condition, size, quality, variety, importance, provenance, or historical relevance of any of these items. <p>2. The Auctioneer will be the final judge as to which bidder is the highest bidder. In the event of any dispute in this matter, the auctioneer shall at his discretion decide to reopen the bidding or not.
<p>3. Title to all merchandise shall pass to the highest bidder at the fall of the Auctioneer’s “hammer”. The purchaser shall assume full risk and responsibility of the lot purchased once title has passed.
<p>4. Payment terms: Ebay does not provide Bertoia Auctions with personal or payment information that you have already provided to them. If you are a successful bidder, please email your name, UPS shipping address, phone number and method of payment to Bill@bertoiaauctions.com so that we may process your invoice. Please allow seven days for the billing process. Payment may be made by cash, personal check, VISA/Mastercard , and Bidpay.
<p>5. Shipping: Bertoia Auctions will pack, ship and insure any items purchased. There is a $15.00 minimum shipping and handling charge. UPS is the standard mode of shipping. A pick-up fee of $7.50 will be added for Priority and Express Mail. International Shipping: All items will be shipped via Global Priority or Express Mail. Our policy is to provide accurate information on all customs documentation and all purchases will be noted as merchandise.
<p>6. The buyer shall be required to pay New Jersey Sales Tax (3%) unless exemption is allowed under the laws regulating such tax.
<p>7. An 18% buyer’s premium will be added to all successful bids and payable as part of the total purchase price.
<p>8. Absentee Bids: As a service to our customers who cannot attend the sale in person, Bertoia Auctions will execute absentee bids if so authorized by mail or fax. All lots purchased for absentee bidders will be done so at the lowest possible price regardless of the amount of the order bid. We cannot execute “buy” bids. In the event of tie bids between online bidders and those present at the auction, preference will be given to the attending bidder.
