'MARGARET' AND SHIP 'ROGER STEWART' OFF PLADDA". Oil on canvas depicting the barque 'Margaret' and ship 'Roger Stewart' seen off of Pladda Island. The former entering and the later departing the Firth of Clyde. The Roger Stewart flying the company flag "AS" of the owner Andrew Stewart, who also owned the Margaret. A lighthouse on the point appears between the bows of the two ships in the background. Signed lower right "D. McFarlane" and housed in a gesso and wood frame of the period with title plaque affixed to the center of the lower molding. NOTE: See page 117 of "Marine Art & The Clyde" by Davidson. SIZE: 24" x 36". Overall is 32" x 44". CONDITION: painting was cleaned at some point. (05-713/TG). $5,000-7,000.
