DULAC, EDMUND
(1882 - 1953) British artist and illustrator, remembered for his illustrations in the tales The Arabian Nights and Sinbad the Sailor. A fine grouping of four scarce A.L.S. 1p. 8vo. each, ca. 1917-1921, to various recipients, in small part: ""...I have had a great deal of trouble with the frame maker. The circular frame ordered more than a month ago has been promised me every time for a week, and I have not received it...In the meantime the frame maker has provided me with a temporary square frame but the mount does not quite fit it and the result is therefore not very happy...I should like to have three stalls for the first night of Heartbreak House, and I would be very pleased to have them as near as possible to the stage...I am very sorry to hear that Lady Dilke is unwell...I read with great pleasure the charming letter...you so kindly sent me, it is full of delightful 'native' atmosphere and inspired me to introduce some black markings in the background of the portrait. This is very far advanced, and I think one more short sitting will enable me to finish it...I have begun my next book and most of all...I am anxious to see you. We have a room for you...We have to talk about a thousand and one things...I also hope that you will give up New Zealand and take up 'digging' in close quarters. London is the best place after all!..."". Four pieces, very good condition.
