DUKE OF DURHAM SMOKING TOBACCO PAPER SIGN.
DUKE OF DURHAM SMOKING TOBACCO PAPER SIGN. Outrageous comical illustration of the family pets commandeering a Victorian smoking parlor and availing themselves to the owner’s stash of Duke of Durham tobacco. A monkey is shown relaxing in the owner’s easy chair, having a smoke while reading the Daily News and Saratoga Horse Racing Forms. The family cat lies on a floor pillow clawing open a canvas sack of tobacco, while the family parrot sits perched on the lounge chair having a cracker, taking in the whole spectacle. Lithographed by Donaldson Bros. circa 1880, in the original marked oak frame. SIZE: Overall 30-1/4” w. x 23-3/4” t. CONDITION: This extremely rare sign does have condition problems which extend to significant vertical tears at the side and bottom margins, but well worth the restoration effort for what may well prove to be a one-of-a-kind sign. 1-27790
Shipping :
*SHIPPING: If you are the successful bidder and are unable to attend the auction in person or pick up your item, we will pack and ship your item for you.
