DUHAMEL DU MONCEAU, Henri-Louis.- Traité des arbres et arbustes que l'on cultive en France en pleine terre. Seconde édition considérablement augmentée. Paris, Didot aîné, Michel, Lamy, [& Arthus Bertrand], [ 1800-1819]. 7 vol. in-f° : titre gravé, 496 [sur 498] planches (une pl. suppl. 74bis au vol. VI, manquent 3 autres : pl. 10 au vol. I, pl. 47bis au vol. IV., pl. 24 au vol. VI, manque titre typogr. au vol. VII, qqs ff. de texte ou planches rel. dans le désordre, faibles piqûres passim limitées gén. au texte et aux serpentes et ne touchant pratiquement pas les planches). Rel. de l'époque : demi-veau raciné à petits coins, plats de papier raciné, dos à nerfs, pièces de titre et de tom. de maroq. rouge et vert, caissons orné d'un fer doré, tr. jasp. (pet. manque à deux mors et deux coiffes, traces d'étiquettes et d'autres papiers enlevés aux contreplats, faux-plis à qqs gardes).
Notre édition, la "seconde" suivant le titre que l'on appèlle aussi le "nouveau Duhamel", n'a pratiquement rien de commun avec l'édition de 1755, ni au niveau du texte, ni au niveau de l'illustration. Le texte est de la main de Veillard, Jaume Saint-Hilaire, Loiseleur-Deslongchamps e.a., tandis que les planches ont été gravées sur cuivre d'après P.J. Redouté et P. Bessa. Toutes les planches sont imprimées en couleur sauf 2 au tome 5 qui représentent les éléments d'un moulin et pressoir à huille d'olive, et protégées par une sepente. Comme signalé plus haut notre exemplaire manque 3 planches par rapport à la collation donnée par Nissen, mais comporte une planche que ce bibliographe ne signale pas (voir pl. 74bis au vol. VI.). Bon exemplaire de l'un des grands ouvrages de la botanique dendrologique qui ne passe pratiquement jamais sur le marché.

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.

Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
