"Theodore Dreiser" 1p. 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], a twelve-lined poem titled "Through the Adversity", boldly penned in part: "...Serene, I wait.../What good abides within my fate/Assured, however dark the way/That good is all our destiny./And when before me falls the lash/With stinging pain, and blinding flash/Oh human wrath makes keenly plain/Mine witless error, seen through pain...Still death abide, unchanged the dream/That good prevails, howe're it seem...". A bit fragile, with folds, chipping and slight loss to edge, pencil docket at bottom, overall good condition.
