Notes: In 1923 the Thuringian legislative assembly asked for a Bauhaus exhibition that would serve to report to the assembly what had been accomplished by the school since it opened. All the departments at the Bauhaus produced works to display in this exhibition. Gropius declared an effective state of emergency, an exhibition committee was formed and working hours in the workshops were extended. The theme for the exhibition was 'Art and Technology, a new unity.'The present lot includes a draft by Schlemmer and the final version of the flyer for the exhibition which ran from August 15th to September 30th. This item as well as the following lot were acquired from Peter Keler whilst he was living in the DDR. The family exchanged the pieces for luxuries - chocolate and coffee - that the DDR did not afford Mr. Keler. Keler was a student at the Bauhaus Weimar from 1921-1925. From 1947-1963 he was a professor at the Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen in Weimar.
