A professional working artist since 1968,
Don is also a historian and an avid collector of
antique western and military accoutrements.
His studio is filled with a large library, and his
collection of artifacts, which he incorporates
into his paintings. Many of his paintings have
been reproduced as book jackets, magazine
covers and illustrations, and also historic
publications and scholastic books. His goal is
to use the talent that God has given to inspire
others, and to advance the Kingdom of God.
With his background, Don is recognized as one
of the premier artists of historical genre today.
His paintings are in the collection of Virginia
Military Institute, the Hamilton Collection,
Notre Dame Alumni Association, University
of Oregon, and many private collections in
the United States and Europe. Don recently
completed four large murals for the Museum of
Natural and Cultural History, at the University
of Oregon. He is a charter member of the
Northwest Rendezvous Group. He and his wife,
Charmalee, make their home in the historic
"Pleasant Nolan" home built in 1875.
