Along with Maurice Wilkins, James D. Watson (born 1928) and Francis Crick (1916–2004) shared the 1962 Nobel Prize in Medicine for discovering the function and structure of DNA, providing the prime impetus for further research in the emerging fields of molecular genetics and biochemistry. Two signed FDCs: one with a cachet honoring the Mayo Brothers, signed in blue ballpoint, “J. D. Watson”; and one with a cachet honoring Dr. George Papanicolaou, signed in black ink by Crick. In fine condition, with two paperclip impressions to bottom of Crick’s cover.
