(1882 - 1949) Bulgarian Communist leader arrested in Berlin for alleged complicity in setting the Reichstag on fire. DimitrovÆs cool conduct of his defense and the accusations he directed at his prosecutors won him world renown. He was acquitted and went to the USSR. Served as Secretary General of the Cominterm and Premier of Bulgaria. Rare partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [Moscow], July 7, 1945, a printed request asking Soviet customs to allow to pass the border with cargo sent to Bulgaria. Boldly approved at top in red grease-pencil by Dimitrov. At the time of this approval, Dimitrov, as head of the International Communist Organization, was organizing another center for Communist activity. File holes to left margin, light offsetting to bottom edge, trimmed at bottom, else very good.
