DERBY PORCELAIN - A good pair of Derby ice pails, covers and liners, in Sèvres style, of deep U-shape with shell handles, painted by Edward Withers with scattered single roses, the oeil-de-perdrix borders on a pale blue ground reserved with panels of roses, the covers similarly decorated and with gilt leaf scroll handles, 10.75 in high, crown over D in blue, c.1785 (see illustration) For a similar pair of ice pails see John Twitchett, Derby Porcelain, 1980, p.141, illus 154
