Modern art glass vase covered with swirls of caramel and studded with many bits of millefeore. Mouth blown and hand fashioned at the New Brunswick, Canada studio of scientist and
glass blower Martin Demaine. He kindly confirmed this was his work.<p>Circa 1978<p>Marty Demaine is artist-in-
residence at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Technical Instructor at the dept. of Materials Science and Engineering Glass Lab and visiting professor at Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. Marty Demaine studied glass in England and opened a glass studio in New Brunswick, Canada. <p>His work is represented in private and public collections internationally.
Collections include National Museum of Canada and Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Commissions include a set of goblets for Queen Elizabeth. <p>His son, Erik, is also a professor at MIT and recipient of a MacArthur Genius grant.
<p>The vase is 6 inches tall, 2 inches diameter at top, 2-3/4 at bottom. Signed on bottom and numbered 54 210 78 as seen in photo.
<p>Very good condition. No chips, dings, cracks, repairs or other damage.
