DELUXE WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF 44-40). Third Model special order rifle with 24” oct bbl, full magazine, Rocky Mountain front sight and semi buckhorn rear sight. It has case colored receiver and beautiful flame grain center crotch-cut stock with matching forearm, “H” style checkering with checkered pistol grip and crescent steel buttplate with trap containing a four-piece brass and iron wiping rod. Accompanied by Cody Museum yellow sheet. SN 283456. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains about 90% strong bright original blue with edge wear and scattered surface discoloration with tree or four spots of cleaned rust and a series of dents on the left flat, just above the forearm. The magazine tube retains about 60% blue with the balance turned plum-brown. There is a small patch of light rust just above the forearm. The left side and top of the receiver retain about 80% faded, strong case colors with the balance brown patina. The right side and bottom of the receiver have case colors in sheltered areas with the balance turned silver and mottled patina. The loading gate retains about 60% bright niter blue. The lever retains traces of case colors with the balance brown patina and the hammer about 70% case colors. The buttplate has all turned silver. The stock is sound and retains 85-90% strong original varnish. The forearm has a repaired crack and a gouge on the right side and retains 60-70% original varnish. The checkering shows moderate wear with a couple of scratches on the grip. Bright shiny bore with light pitting. 4-49972 JR192
