GAME GUN BY FRANCISCO ALBISTEGUI OF EIBAR. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 4467. 28 5/8" Chopperlump bbls. fitted with very low matted rib are engraved with maker's name and address on tops. Breech section of rib is floral engraved and there are relief scroll bands around breech ends of bbls. Bbl. flats are stamped with post 1927 but pre-1931 Spanish Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. No date letter is found. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped "ACERO WHITWORTHS" and "FULL CHOKE". Coin finished sidelock action features automatic safety ("SEGURO" in gold), hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, side clips, gold arrow tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers (front articulated). Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage small scroll with floral highlights surrounding panels of deep relief carved game scenes. Left lockplate depicts a chamois guarding its young while being attacked by an eagle at rear and a weasel or mongoose at front. Right lock depicts eagle feasting on expired boar as a dog attacks with llamas? at front. Bottom of action has fine rendering of stag and hind standing under trees. Fences are relief engraved with wolves preparing to snack on pheasant. Thumbpiece is pierced with rendering of a flying duck. Trigger guard is engraved with pair of pheasant on bow and scroll on tang. Capped pistol grip buttstock of streaked European walnut measures 14 1/8" over "Silver" type pad. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering on semi diamond hand, embossed horn gripcap, and a gold shield on toeline engraved with the monogram "CB". MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .728", L .728". Restriction: R .029" (FULL), L .030" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .022", L .027". STOCK: DAH: 1 7/8". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/8". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 15 oz. CONDITION: good as refinished, bbls. retaining nearly all of a reblack. Action cleaned to coin finish. Stocks with glossy oil finish, checkering recut. Comb has been reshaped with the addition of large top piece and there are inlet patches of wood at center of grip covering repair with remnants of crack over top behind tang.
