<B>DEEP PURPLE BOTRYOIDAL FLUORITE</B></I><BR> <I>Dongqiyishan Fluorite deposit, Alxa (Alashan) League, Nei Mongol Autonomous Region (Inner Mongolia), People's Republic of China</B></I><BR>Fluorite rarely crystallizes in botryoidal form. This spectacular botryoidal fluorite specimen has over eight deep, intense, translucent purple spheres adjoining one and other in a massive cluster on matrix. The fluorite surface has a satin sheen and, when backlit, displays an intensely vivid purple coloration. These aesthetic and curious globular crystallizations are similar to those discovered at Myanmar (Burma) years ago, but are significantly better both in size and color. The specimen is from a new locality in Inner Mongolia, which up until now had never produced any mineral specimens, let alone any significant mineral specimens such as this.
